BOWIE SYMPHONIC

One of the most awaited events of the season will be the “Bowie Symphonic” concert, to be held on July 13th at Sala Pau Casals of L’Auditori. The Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra and Nacional of Catalonia (OBC) will perform David Bowie’s last album “Blackstar”.

The Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra and Nacional of Catalonia (OBC) will perform David Bowie’s last album “Blackstar”. Director and arranger Evan Ziporyn will revisit Bowie’s most recent work, symphonically transforming songs like Lazarus, Blackstar or Girl Loves Me, in an orchestral concert comprised of 80 musicians that will embody the sonorous similarity of the cello with that of the human voice. Ziporyn is an American composer dedicated to post-minimalist music, but with clear connections to classical music, avant-garde, world music and even jazz.

The show premiered last March at the Kresge Auditorium in Massachussets (USA) and featured soloist Maya Beiser, the Israeli born revolutionary American cellist. This extraordinary concert of the OBC agenda is also part of El Grec festival program.

July 13th at Sala Pau Casals of L’Auditori.
